Career path overview sales

Is it for me?

In the modern world of next day delivery and where the purchase of almost anything is only a click away, our International Freight Logistics roles are about working with our customers to plan the transportation of their goods across borders. Your role is to ensure that your customer’s goods are delivered by air, sea or road in the easiest and most effective way possible, but don’t worry if this all sounds a bit daunting to you! We don’t expect you to know anything about freight logistics when you join us. While knowledge about the movement of goods is warmly welcomed, your desire to want to learn about the industry and your ability to work in a team is far more important. If you’re a confident, analytical person who is eager to learn and progress in their career then you’d be a great fit for this apprenticeship!

Meet asif - freight logistics apprentice

Why did you join Kuehne+Nagel?

I found out through online research that it was a great large scale organisation to work for. There were lots of glowing reviews online about Kuehne+Nagel and positive feedback about management.

What has been the best part of your apprenticeship so far?

I have had so many highlights during my apprenticeship but my best moments were being nominated for the Asian apprenticeship awards and attending the ceremony with my manager. Also, being noticed on the branch score boards for recognition of customer service skills. Finally, I love it whenever I have made a profit for Kuehne+Nagel.

What’s the most interesting thing you’ve you learnt during your apprenticeship?

Learning about all the different aircraft types. Particularly, how airlines work in terms of how much they charge per shipment. E.g. they work out how much space the cargo takes up rather than the shipment's actual weight.

What’s the hardest thing about doing an apprenticeship?

Definitely juggling a day job with all of the different assignments and coursework but I have overcome that with the support of my team.
